The C.S. Lewis Tour that reached Cal Poly
Cal Poly’s Performing Arts Center on Oct. 14 hosted Max McClean’s performance of mystical music, the sound of a large crash and imagery of the solar system.
“I call it Narnia,” said actor and writer Max McClean.
McClean is an actor who portrayed C.S. Lewis in the Fellowship for Performing Arts’ Tour: “C.S. Lewis On Stage: Further Up and Further In.”
McClean stopped at Cal Poly to show the audience Lewis’ story through letters Lewis wrote. He demonstrated Lewis’ journey with Christianity and how it inspired him to write the 1950s novel series: “The Chronicles of Narnia.”
People came from all over San Luis Obispo County to experience this story.
“We are familiar with C.S Lewis’ works, and I was excited by the premise of someone portraying him,” Arroyo Grande Resident Shannon Kessler said.
After the show, McClean hosted a 10-minute question-and-answer discussion.
San Luis Obispo resident Amy-Lynne Hilderbrand came to the show to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Hilderbrand participated in the discussion.
“I just wanted to say thanks [to McClean] for coming to San Luis Obispo,” Hilderbrand said.
