The Peak: Analog Edition

Five Cal Poly women founded The Peak in 2024 with the intention of expanding beyond day-to-day news coverage and to highlight the stories that make San Luis Obispo more than just a city. The Peak is a love letter to the place we call home, whether for four academic years or for much much longer.

In the two years since, we’ve jumped between arts and culture, advice columns and student spotlights, adapting based on community needs. For this edition of The Peak, we felt it was vital to return to our roots, close our computers and revive the feelings of the pre-digital era connection. In a world of developing AI, incessant doomscrolling and a literacy crisis, we want to make it evident that art, music and human connection prevail.

Inside you will find stories of local creatives, odes to the places we love and the voices of the community that are closer than you think.

As you read, we hope you put your phone down and allow inspiration to flow, maybe chatting with a friend or stranger as you pine through the pages.
