American indie singer-songwriter Cass McCombs will be taking center stage at SLO Brew Rock this Saturday, February 18.
McCombs released his 10th studio album titled “Heartmind” last summer. The album, which includes hits like “Karaoke” and “Earth Mind,” is finally being performed for a live audience on the tour kicking off right here in San Luis Obispo.
He will be joined by Weak Signal, an alternative indie band that McCombs recently released a single with. The release includes two songs, “Vacation From Thought” and “Give It Back.”
McCombs has an eclectic sound history with a large American root and country influence, along with some underground and even psychedelia. His music has garnered a large audience with over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify. His 2016 hit “Bum Bum Bum” has reached over 33 million listens.
“Heartmind” explores a mostly country/folk sound that centers around sincerity and digging deep. In August, the album got an 8.1 rating from Pitchfork and was referred to as “his most confident and intentional” album to date.
McCombs’ work also covers various topics from the deeply personal to the satirical and political.
