Supporting Student Radio – The Big Cheese Writes a Letter
Dear Listener,
As the General Manager for KCPR, I wanted to let you know that we have just begun our 2020 fundraising campaign.
We’ve accomplished a lot over the last school year, and I’d like to give you the rundown on what we’ve been up to.
Our listenership has expanded tremendously beyond San Luis Obispo. We now have fans in the Philippines, Germany, Turkey and many more places around the world thanks to improved streaming capabilities. Our best-in-the-nation news team has hired more staff to continue bringing you the best reporting, and we plan on expanding our news coverage next school year. We also now have an amazing partnership with Boo Boo Records, where you can find some of our best picks displayed in-store.
All of these accomplishments are thanks to you, the listener. The financial and community support you’ve given has helped us remain a cultural hub on the Central Coast, where different matters.
Now, we’re asking for your help to continue this mission.
We are a nonprofit, student-run radio station, which means our ability to serve you relies on your continued support.
As we face uncertainty in our daily lives because of this pandemic, one thing is certain: KCPR is more important than ever. Our station continues to provide free news and entertainment to the community while all of us stay at home.
For our listeners, we are a familiar voice in an unfamiliar time.
We encourage you to do more than listen. Become an active participant and support KCPR through a contribution to help continue our programs.
We are trying to raise $10,000 in order to keep showcasing cutting edge music and news coverage to our listeners in San Luis Obispo and around the world. Your donation — which you can make here — will allow us to serve you better, and allow us to upgrade our technology to connect with you even more during this time.
These are tough times for all of us but any help goes a long way.
We’ll get through this together, and we’ll be there with you every step of the way.
Best,
Max
