SloDoCo to host its first in-house show since 2020, featuring Krooks and a costume contest
SloDoCo, a local donut chain in San Luis Obispo, is hosting a free Halloween-themed rock concert on Oct. 21 from 7-10 p.m. with the local rock band Krooks. Fellow local band The Let Downs will open the show at 793 E. Foothill Blvd., and there will be a costume contest.
Prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, SloDoCo held many concerts for local bands and singers with excellent crowd turn-outs. This upcoming concert is part of their mission to bring these concerts back into full swing after their hiatus throughout the pandemic.
“I’ve played about four shows there with previous bands, and they have always been so fun … I think one time we had like 60 people inside of that small little building and it was just the funnest thing,” guitarist Tanner Price said about the upcoming concert. “The workers were super nice, they give the bands free donuts, and it’s just an all-around good time.”
Krooks also noted that they’re excited to be playing with another local band that they’re close with.
“The Let Downs, too, [who] we’re playing with, they’re our super good friends. They make great music,” guitarist Ethan Norton said. “It’s cool to just be friends with the bands you’re playing with, and it just makes the experience that much better.”
The band made it clear that they encourage everyone to dress up for Halloween. There will be prizes for first, second and third place, according to an Instagram post from SloDoCo.
