SLO Brew Live and Skate Safari present Tommy Guerrero for skatepark fundraiser
Musician and skateboarding legend Tommy Guerrero will headline a show at SLO Brew Rock on Tuesday, Nov. 15 with The Ragged Jubilee for a fundraising event with Skate Cambria and Skate Safari. Guerrero’s performance will feature a four-piece band and their freeform and instrumental surf-rock jams. The Ragged Jubilee, a local band and frequent performer at SLO Brew Rock, will serve as the opening band, performing from their discography of garage rock and blues.
The event will be SLO Brew’s first collaboration with Skate Cambria and Skate Safari. SLO Brew entertainment director Ryan Orr said he was looking for ways to make the show a bigger event, so he reached out to these two local organizations that he felt were on brand with SLO Brew.
Skate Cambria is a local organization committed to raising money for a new skatepark in Cambria, after the town’s previous one was deconstructed in 2020. Since then, the organization has raised over $400,000, nearly two-thirds of their $650,000 goal. Orr said he hopes the show will help the organization work towards achieving this goal.
Skate Safari is another local organization that has ties to the Shabang Live Music & Arts Festival. Orr says SLO Brew hasn’t partnered with Skate Safari before, although they have worked with Shabang for one-off promotional shows.
To raise money for Skate Cambria, there will be a raffle for various prizes and merchandise such as skateboard decks, shoes, restaurant gift cards and more.
Guerrero’s show at SLO Brew is scheduled to be the third and last of a short run of shows in California. Guerrero and his band played in Venice Beach at The Venice West on Nov. 12 and in Long Beach at Alex’s Bar on Nov. 14.
Tickets for the show at SLO Brew are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and can be found at slobrew.com/events.
