Próxima Parada’s Nick Larson to perform first solo show
Lead singer of Próxima Parada Nick Larson will be performing his first-ever solo show at the Libretto in Paso Robles on Thursday. There will be two sets, one at 6:30 p.m. and one at 8:30 p.m., to let as many people as possible experience this unique show.
Larson said he wants to create an environment that is similar to the one in which he writes his songs: informal and comfortable. The Libretto has a capacity of 62 people, giving Larson and attendees the opportunity to be close and conversational.
“A lot of the songs that I’ve written were alone at the piano or alone at the guitar and so it will be really cool to connect with people in that rawest form,” he said.
Larson was first attracted to this venue when he played their nine-foot-tall Steinway grand piano after a show he attended.
“I put my hands on the piano and decided I wanted to play this,” Larson said.
This will be his first time performing a show solo since the beginning of his music career.
“There are going to be a lot of risks, which I’m most excited about,” Larson said. “I can’t hide behind nice drum beats and good bass lines and great guitar playing — it’s just very naked.”
Attendees can expect to hear Próxima Parada songs from their upcoming album. Their first single from the album, “So Many Ways to Get Downtown,” will be released on March 17.
