Playlist: Dance your spooky night away
As of Thursday tonight, it is “Halloweekend.” Halloween for many college students is not one, but three nights of costumes, parties and potentially sloppy conversations with new and old friends. A sincere nod to the original Halloween which dates all the way back to the eighth century with Samhain, the Celtic ghost-warding festival.
This weekend, whether you’re applying fake blood in just the right spots, or putting on a costume that would make your parents weep, you’ll need a playlist to get you into the perfect spooky mood; as always, we have you covered.
I tried keeping it concise, with 25 creepy songs for your listening enjoyment. Of course, it has the classics – “Monster Mash,” “This is Halloween” (from my favorite Halloween movie The Nightmare Before Christmas) and “The Adams Family Theme Song.” But it also features my favorite witchy, dance beats from artists like Black Moth Super Rainbow and HEALTH.
With a little bit for everyone, I hope this playlist makes its way into whatever festivities you have planned this weekend. Make sure to stay safe, keep your sugar levels high and your dance moves weird, but most importantly…stay spooky.
