OK – you need to listen to the revamped version of this Wallows’ track
Wallows, the alternative rock band based out of Los Angeles, California, recently released an updated version of their single “OK” that now features Remi Wolf and Solomonophonic.
“OK,” while originally released in 2020, has been revamped in sound and energy as Wolf and Solomonophonic added a new depth to the track. Wolf’s vocals provide soulful undertones that contrast both Wallows and Solomonophonic’s bedroom-pop styles.
The lyrics – “I’m getting too close /You say you love me most /It’s hard to trust it even though I want to /Need to get this shit out of my head /Before I flip this on myself instead” – reflect on the feelings and doubts that are present in a relationship.
While initially being a song describing personal insecurities, the band explained in their newsletter that they feel the track has taken on a new meaning amid the current COVID-19 pandemic.
“The thought that no matter where we are or how alone [or] lost we feel right now, we can get up again and try to feel OK. We’re in it together,” said Wallows.
The optimistic tone of the song provides a sense of security and the incorporation of both Wolf and Solomonophonic’s vocals transform the track into a whole new being, while still maintaining the integrity of the original.
