Each week the content writers for KCPR.org are going to publish a playlist containing a new song recommendation from each of them.
1. Blue – Angelo De Augustine
Recommended by: Kallie Kidder
Angelo De Augustine collaborated with Sufjan Stevens for yet another masterpiece. The track will appear alongside their previous collaboration, “Santa Barbara,” on a double A-side 7” single. Angelo De Augustine embodies a sweet, meditative sound, which pairs beautifully alongside Sufjan Stevens’ experimental, comforting style.
2. OHFR? – Rico Nasty
Recommended by: Lilly Leif
Rico Nasty’s newest single is her at her angriest – if that’s even possible. This track boasts of Rico Nasty’s confidence and life since she’s gained more mainstream popularity. I’m for any song containing unbridled feminine rage.
3. Glowing in the Dark – Django Django
Recommended by: Evan Gattuso
Django Django’s new single “Glowing in the Dark,” the titular track of their upcoming album, seeps with confidence and encourages a sense of hope. The song was released with an artistic music video loaded with vivid graphics.
4. Therefore I am – Billie Eilish
Recommended by: Sophia Pattison
This song was released along with a music video on November 12. It has the same tones and unique stylistic choices that can be found in most songs from Eilish. The single reminds me most of her single “Bad Guy” with video/arcade-game-sounding twang.
5. Can I Believe You – Fleet Foxes
Recommended by: Alice Sukhostavskiy
Fleet Foxes’ new song “Can I Believe You” was released in their album “Shore” on September 22, 2020 as their fourth studio album. It has a similar tone to the rest of their songs, as Fleet Foxes is an indie-folk band, but even for those who aren’t fans of indie, this is definitely a must-listen.
6. Let Me Feel Low (ft. Miloe) – Cavetown
Recommended by: Jenna McCarthy
Cavetown has a very chill, down to earth style, which is very calming. Give this a listen if you need a cool down after a stressful day!
7. Fly Away – Tones and I
Recommended by: Tessa Hughes
The beat of this song is the dance vibe Tones and I fans are accustomed to with her music. However, the lyrics don’t exactly match, yet are still beautiful. The contrast between the two makes this new single one to check out because it serves as a powerful reminder of the singer’s range and diversity within her music.
