LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN – Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic
Recommended by: Eden Baker
After a five year hiatus, Bruno Mars is coming back stronger than ever. “Leave the Door Open” beautifully combines Mars’ energy and a smooth R&B feel. This single perfectly encompasses the feel-good vibe of Mars’ music, making it almost impossible to feel unhappy when listening.
The Kiss of Venus – Dominic Fike and Paul McCartney
Recommended by: Lilly Leif
This is the first single from McCartney’s project “McCartney III Imagined,” of which he’s asked current artists to cover tracks from his 2020 album “McCartney III.” Fike’s version of “The Kiss of Venus” adds a more dream pop/rock flair to the already fun sounding folksy original track.
Trophy – Crumb
Recommended by: Evan Gattuso
Crumb is back with a new single, “Trophy.” It is the first track the hypnotic psych-rock and jazz group has released since their debut album “Jinx” in June 2019. The mesmerizing instrumentation and intimate vocals slowly develop into something more haunting and darker than Crumb’s previous music. As vocalist Lila Ramani echoes, “That’s just the way it goes.”
Oxygen Swimming – Grouplove
Recommended by: Alice Sukhostavskiy
Popular alternative rock band, Grouplove, released their new album “This is This” on March 12. “Oxygen Swimming” has a low-key alt vibe, featuring chill instrumentals and soothing vocals that create a nice contrast to the rest of the album.
Summer’s End – Phoebe Bridgers, Maria Taylor
Recommended by: Tessa Hughes
Bridgers covered John Prine’s song with Maria Taylor recently and Bridgers’ beautiful breathy vocals are a timeless classic against the gentle strumming of the back guitar. They also seamlessly manage to not get drowned out by the fuller chorus.
