Whatever Tomorrow – Chet Faker
Recommended by: Eden Baker
If you are looking for a song that you can just relax and forget about life to – this is it. “Whatever Tomorrow” incorporates a steady, monotone beat and Chet Faker’s raspy voice to create a melody that does not require much thinking, but rather, encourages one to simply exist in the present moment.
Ugly Vybes – Houston Kendrick
Recommended by: Evan Gattuso
Houston Kendrick reflects on a year of isolation and introspection in his new and appealing rap, R&B and pop album, “Small Infinity.” Kendrick calls out disingenuous attention seekers in our artificial social media age in the magnetic track “Ugly Vybes.” He calls the song an “anthem for introverts,” but you don’t need to be introverted to enjoy the sleek and engaging lyrics and music that’ll have you exploring the rest of “Small Infinity.”
Bankroll – BROCKHAMPTON (ft. A$AP Rocky & A$AP Ferg)
Recommended by: Alina Jafri
This song has sick transitions and instrumentals. The multiple voices involved in the song all did an excellent job with their verses and flowing with the beat of the track.
Nobles – The Alchemist (ft. Earl Sweatshirt & Navy Blue)
Recommended by: Moises De La Cruz
The Alchemist can’t seem to stop producing butter-smooth loops for hip-hop ‘s finest lately. Whether working with rising champs like Freddie Gibbs, or uniting two different generations of abstract rap heavyweights like he does on “Nobles,” you can always count on an Alc’ beat to bring out the best in his collaborators.
Loverboy – Sir Sly
Recommended by: Tessa Hughes
“Loverboy” is a single off of SIr Sly’s newest album, “The Rise & Fall of Loverboy,” and is more smooth and euphoric than their previous releases. It has a calmer tone and more loved-up messages than their prior discography and signifies a period of growth for the band. Despite the new sound, “Loverboy” is still distinctly Sir Sly, just them entering into a new era.
He Said She Said- CHVRCHES
Recommended by: Alice Sukhostavskiy
The band’s latest song was written in quarantine and released April 19, 2021. The lyrics are deep and meaningful, and definitely worth a listen for fans of all genres.
Sundown – Hannah Jadagu
Recommended by: Sophia Pattison
This song is chill and simple but very enjoyable. This is Jadagu’s first EP, which is well worth a listen, this song in particular being a great intro to the artist!
Come Through (feat Chris Brown) – H.E.R.
Recommended by: Jenna McCarthy
This song is very chill and vibey – making it a great background sound whether you’re on a long drive or just want to have a calm night in.
