A young boy sat on his dad’s shoulders, looking past each adult in the room with widened, expectant eyes and a hat that read, “Militarie Gun.”

On Sept. 27, Humdinger Brewery hosted touring act Militarie Gun with Los Angeles-based band, Milly, as one of their openers. The performers roared with raw vocals, encapsulating the energy of an animal unleashed. Music loud enough to burst your eardrums without proper protection made for an unforgettable night.
As one of LA’s up-and-coming bands, Milly’s music flourishes within the realm of shoegaze and rock. Their songs consist of heavy drops and fresh riffs, with each one seemingly reaching toward a form of release.

The room had a fragrant mixture of sweat and beer, complementary to the energy of the night. Overlooking the venue, there was a constant wave of double-fists, beanies and backward caps, representing earner support for each band.
Ian Shelton’s voice is inescapable alongside the crashing cymbals and aggressive noises emitted from his bandmates. Militarie Gun’s music is relentless and in-your-face, with each lyric capturing the essence of what it’s like to be human. Slip-ups and lessons, it’s all in their music.
