Maya MacGregor
Graduation year and major:
December 2020 with a degree in journalism and a minor in law and society
Position at KCPR:
News Director from April 2019 – June 2020
Anchor/reporter from February 2019 – December 2020
Favorite part about working for KCPR:
KCPR was the best part of my college career. I was able to build a solid foundation in broadcast journalism while forming amazing friendships with my team. Broadcasting live from the KCPR studio was the best way to start my day.
Another great experience was broadcasting from a remote studio set up in my living room during the pandemic. Our news team was able to provide crucial information to our community, even without access to campus. This experience taught me how to adapt and overcome challenges.
Where do you currently work and what do you do?
I am an associate producer for KSBW Action News 8.
How did, if at all, KCPR help or prepare you for your career trajectory?
My experience as news director prepared me for my job as an associate producer. As news director, I wrote scripts and stacked shows on a daily basis. Now, both of those things are key parts in my job as a producer. My experience as a college news director helped me get my internship with NBC Los Angeles and then my job with KSBW.
