Liquid Gravity Brewing Company dishes out drinks and live local music
Liquid Gravity Brewing Company is a family-owned business located about seven miles from Cal Poly. At Liquid Gravity, customers can relax and enjoy the lights, live local music, drinks and food.
San Luis Obispo local Brendan Gough opened Liquid Gravity in January 2020 after years of brewery experience with medals from the most prestigious beer competitions in the world. Even though it was born right before the pandemic, the brewery has sustained impressive customer satisfaction, with a four and a half star rating on Yelp.
Amidst the fluctuating Covid-19 restrictions within the past year, customers have been able to enjoy their experience at the brewery through the outdoor patio. The brewery invites local artists weekly to perform on the outdoor stage.
Liquid Gravity hosted a concert for all ages on Friday, Sept. 24 to celebrate the release of the local band Pancho and the Wizards’ album “Residual”.
Bands Repeater and Witchin Alleys opened for Pancho and the Wizards. Witchin Alley’s band member Joseph Barron said that they have played at plenty of venues across Southern California, but this is one of the few outdoor stages that they have had the opportunity to perform on.
Aneesa Qazi, a second-year forest and fire sciences major, heard about the concert from a classmate and ended up attending Liquid Gravity for the first time that night. She enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor aspects of the brewery.
“There was an indoor portion with food and drinks for people who wanted a more low-key scene as well as an outdoor area with fire pits and seating, so it was nice to have both options,” Qazi said.
While Corazon 805 Tacos was serving food throughout the night, the brewery was packed with people who were dancing in mosh pits, chilling by the fire or enjoying the bar inside.
“Liquid Gravity’s welcoming atmosphere and cozy vibe make it a great place for anyone to have a good time,” Qazi said. “I would definitely go back at some point with friends if we’re looking for something fun to do.”
Repeater and Witchin Alleys’ band members both enjoyed the energy that Liquid Gravity brought to their performances and would like to return to San Luis Obispo soon.
“We had a blast playing at Liquid Gravity,” Barron said. “The crowd was wild, and the atmosphere was lively throughout the entire show.”
