Natural wellness encompasses all of the ways we find health holistically while honoring all aspects of our body. It’s a self-care practice that focuses on the individual’s needs. Natural wellness includes the food we eat, the products we use and all the ways we keep our bodies and minds as happy and healthy as possible.
However, the upkeep of this lifestyle often requires a large budget. This natural wellness guide encourages a lifestyle full of health and wellness that is affordable. While there are many ways to practice natural wellness, this guide highlights a few local places to check out.
Physical Wellness
Located just a few blocks from campus, a hot yoga workout class will offer something a bit different, and sweatier, than classes offered on campus. The Spark Yoga heated yoga classes are the perfect way to honor your physical health.
The studio offers a range of yoga classes to connect your mind and body. Classes can remain closer to a traditional yoga flow, or resemble more of a sculpted flow that incorporates weights and workout bands to work your muscles. Spark Yoga offers discounted monthly memberships for students, and they offer low-priced online memberships for practicing at home.
The Center Studio SLO and Boutique
Another option for yoga is The Center Studio, which not only offers yoga classes but also has a boutique with products directed toward relaxation and health. Products are centralized around yoga practice and elevating it with relaxation products like aromatherapy.
The Center Studio is located in downtown San Luis Obispo on Higuera Street. Although they don’t have student discounts, their website said they are willing to work with those that cannot afford a membership.
Products
Gaia Gallery, formally known as Unique Selections, is the only crystal-specific shop in San Luis Obispo. The large gallery is split into sections by crystal type and each crystal is offered in large, medium or small versions. Each is made into varying jewelry products as well. The shop also offers tarot card and energy healing services by request.
Bringing together artists and small creators of Morro Bay, Morro Made has a wide selection of wellness products made by locals. Accompanied by a selection of handmade jewelry and art, they feature small businesses that focus on self-care, such as Moonrise Parlour Soapery, which creates handmade soaps and essential oil-infused candles.
For Consumption
With herbal remedies for any season, Teazer World Tea Market lets customers create their own herbal tea blend so it’s just right for them. Located on Higuera Street, they offer freshly brewed tea blends to enjoy on the go.
The Neighborhood Acai and Juice Bar
Nourishing food can help heal the body, and The Neighborhood Acai and Juice Bar is a San Luis Obispo favorite with juice cleanses, smoothies, acai bowls and salads. Alongside food offerings, the business sells blended wellness shots. Each juice comes in a glass jar, and if you return the jar after use, you get a reward toward your next purchase.
