February Playlist
February is the time for love and breakup anthems. Here are a few songs to help get you in or over your feels throughout the season of love:
- Bloody Valentine – Machine Gun Kelly
From Machine Gun Kelly’s newest pop-punk album “Tickets To My Downfall,” the lyrics “I don’t do fake love, but I’ll take some from you tonight,” encapsulate the feeling of wanting to be with someone even when you know they’re wrong for you.
- February – No Love For The Middle Child
While February is a month of love for some, No Love For The Middle Child makes it clear that break ups are bound to happen at any time.
- Falling in Love – Cigarettes After Sex
Would it even be a February playlist without a Cigarettes After Sex Song?
- Groundhog Day – Culi.
Culi. portrays the feeling of when days and nights start to blend together and it feels like you’re stuck repeating the same day over and over again.
- February Stars – Foo Fighters
One of Foo Fighters slower songs, “February Stars” is a beautiful description of trying not to let yourself fall, but knowing you have every reason to.
- Valentine’s Sux – The Frights
Trying to stay positive when you’re all alone on a day where it seems like everyone else is celebrating being in love is never easy.
- Aquarius Apocalyptic – Stop Light Observations
Aquarius season is in full swing and Stop Light Observations put this air sign energy into words through this song.
- February – Belle
This single released in 2019 combines straining lovesick vocals with painfully relatable lyrics of feeling like you’re not in control of your own mind.
- Without U – Beach Goons
This cover of Spooky Black’s “Without U” from Beach Goons’ first album “Boisad” is toned down from the San Diego based bands usual surf-punk sound. Nevertheless, the heavy bass line and ominous lyrics are enough to make you miss someone you never even had.
- Valentine – 5 Seconds of Summer
The lyrics – “It don’t matter, be combative or be sweet cherry pie / It don’t matter just as long as I get all you tonight” – perfectly describe the feeling of being so in love that you will put up with anything they do just to be with them.
- Sex and Candy – Marcy Playground
Who doesn’t want sex and candy in February?
- Two Days in February – The Goo Goo Dolls
Trying to make a long distance relationship work can feel like your hearts breaking over and over again even when you’re technically still with them.
- Baby Came Home 2/Valentines – The Neighbourhood
Young love can be all consuming and you can think it’s going to last forever, but loving someone and being right for someone are two very different things.
- February Weather – In Her Own Words
There’s always going to be the right person who came around at the wrong time.
- Gimme Love – Vista Kicks
Ending on a high note, this is a track that you can’t help but want to get up and scream along to.
