Escape to the Summer with Gabriel Appleton’s latest single

Singer Gabriel Appleton makes listeners nostalgic for the relaxation and ease of summer in his new single “Summertime.” Inspired by his time spent in San Francisco and heavily influenced by funk music, Appleton uses heavy bass lines to capture the sensations of summer in California. 

The instrumentals of the track make it clear that Appleton drew inspiration from the heart of the Bay Area. His soothing vocals are backed by a consistently upbeat bass and shimmery guitar chords reminiscent of how a sunset makes one feel. The combination of these elements makes the track cohesive and well thought out, all while invoking a universal nostalgia for everyone’s favorite time of year.

His lyrics capture the fleeting sensation that summer has to come to an end, usually along with whatever flings existed for the time being. The chorus “All your favorite stories have an ending babe / give me never ending summertime” dawns the realization that no matter how bad we want to bask in a moment, love, like summer, can be short lived. However, this cruel reminder serves the listener well, taking solace in the fact that this sentiment is ubiquitous.
