Come join Honeyboys on their latest journey in their new single “Maple Blue”

San Luis Obispo based band Honeyboys blended elements of jazz, rock and pop in their new single “Maple Blue.” The final result is a laid-back psychedelic love song that hits all the marks lyrically. 

The production of the track is strong with vocals and instrumentals that compliment each other to form a cohesive single. Just when you think you’re listening to one genre, Honeyboys surprises listeners by melding psychedelic guitar with bedroom pop vocals.

The song opens with a jazzy-psych guitar and a smattering of piano before launching into smooth vocals. Honeyboys conjure ethereal images of fields with vibrant colors and the listener is automatically transported from wherever they are to accompany Honeyboys on their journey. 

The lyric “Lucy fed a little pill of a blue dream/ now I’m strumming in a field as the pink moon gleams,” is “Magical Mystery Tour”-esque in its evoking of acid trip visuals. I recommend putting this song on post joint in order to experience the full effects or just listening during a sunset for a similar sensation.

The song’s outro is the perfect end to the dreamy track. The guitar strums bring to mind elements of Jefferson Airplane era acid rock. The entire track is a journey, not just from a lyrical standpoint, but as an audio voyage for the listener too.

We’ve seen quarantine take its toll on artists, giving them nasty writer’s block, but Honeyboys assure us that they are on top of their game creatively and venture their listeners to join them on their trip.
