Cheap Thrills offers game room downtown
For over a decade, Cheap Thrills Records and Captain Nemo’s Toys and Games have offered a twenty-four hour game room. The combined business shares one large store in downtown San Luis Obispo on Higuera St.
Within the building, the right side is dedicated to Cheap Thrills Music Store where countless forms of physical music are offered. On the other side of the store lies Captain Nemo’s where a variety of tabletop, board, role playing and world building games are offered.
The game room dedicated to popular games such as Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering bring in the most fans, causing the business to host tournaments and events celebrating various card releases.
Loyal Magic the Gathering fan Tony Casparro has long been coming to Cheap Thrills to celebrate his love of the game as well as connect with the local community.
“I’ve been coming here on and off for about 12 years.” Casparro said. “It’s just a great community for people that want to play fun board games, card games and things. This is an awesome place to do it,”
These events are having fans gather from all over San Luis Obispo county.
“It’s such a communal game. It’s about the gathering.” player Keith Schachtell said. “You know, you get people together and you get to play. And you have a fun time–whether you win, or lose,” said player Keith
Schachtell traveled down to play at Cheap Thrills from his local game room in Atascadero.
Cheap Thrills holds these tournaments and others like it as often as once a month, to learn more about future events visit the store downtown at 563 Higuera St. or visit their Facebook page.
