Cal Poly students win presale competition securing Disco Lines headliner
Cal Poly students rallied together to purchase presale tickets through Up & Up Festival to win a Disco Lines concert giveaway, taking first place against over 70 college campuses according to Up & Up Cal Poly ambassador Kailey Dodson.
Up & Up Festival is an electronic dance music (EDM) festival competition “produced by Idol Roc who are the creators of the perennial Monster Energy Outbreak Tour. The Outbreak Tour is the largest national touring brand in the club & theater space, which consists of five annual music tours and one annual comedy tour,” according to the Up & Up website.
Up & Up has been hosting a 48-hour pre-sale competition for students across the country to bring an exciting headliner to perform at or near their school since 2016, according to their website.
This year Cal Poly won for the first time in Up & Up Festival history and contributed to the largest presale competition, according to Up & Up ambassador and communications junior Kailey Dodson.
“This is the biggest presale competition that we’ve ever had, the most pre-sale tickets sold and us coming out on top of that means a lot,” Dodson said. “We made Up & Up history with our first go, which is kind of insane.”
Tickets for the upcoming Disco Lines event sold for $33 during presale and more people are signing up for the ticket waitlist on the Up & Up Festival website for $40.
“I bought presale tickets to Disco Lines because I loved seeing him my freshman year during a fraternity event. It was like the perfect opportunity to get a good show for fairly cheap,” junior business major Claire Gazzola said.
As of now the venue and date are still under works, but as logistics get evaluated, San Luis Obispo’s EDM community can expect to see more tickets going on sale, according to Dodson and her team of seven other student ambassadors.
Dodson and her team continue to work with Up & Up to put on the Disco Lines concert. Doson hopes to “feature a few local DJs on top of Disco Lines as openers, so it’s gonna be a great opportunity for the EDM music community in SLO.”
