A night of psychedelic garage rock coming to SLO Brew
The psychedelic garage rock band Frankie and the Witch Fingers is set to take the stage at SLO Brew Rock on February 5, with support from MONSTERWATCH and local band Pancho and the Wizards.
The show will be the 10th and final stop on Frankie and the Witch Fingers’ west coast tour. Before coming to San Luis Obispo, the band will have played shows across northern California, including locations such as Sacramento, San Francisco and Arcata.
Frankie and the Witch Fingers has been consistently releasing music over the years, featuring their energetic, fuzz-heavy garage-rock sound. Since 2015, the band has released six full-length studio albums and a live album. The band’s last release in October 2022 was a two-sided single with the songs “Electricide” and “Chalice.”
Frankie and the Witch Fingers has previously embarked on tours across the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia, playing headlining shows and supporting artists such as Ty Segall, Osees, ZZ Top and Cheap Trick. Frankie and the Witch Fingers have also made appearances at festivals such as Levitation and Desert Daze.
The vocalist and guitarist of Pancho and the Wizards, Tristan Wildey, expressed his excitement for his band to be opening for Frankie and the Witch Fingers.
“I’ve been wanting to play with them for a while, so we’re stoked,” Wildey said.
In the seven years Pancho and the Wizards have been playing shows, Wildey said he’s always wanted to play with bands he likes, rather than just play his own shows. Pancho and the Wizards are also planning to open for Levitation Room in Santa Cruz next month, as well as go on a short tour in the spring as a supporting act for Wine Lips.
For their opening set at SLO Brew Rock, Wildey said they’re planning to play at least four new songs, in addition to some of their previous releases.
MONSTERWATCH, a three-piece punk rock band from Seattle, Washington, will also play an opening set. MONSTERWATCH has been opening for Frankie and the Witch Fingers on their current west coast tour. The band’s last release was a three-song EP titled “Noise You Will Never Care About.” The nine-minute collection of fast-paced, distorted songs seems to promise an energetic live performance from the band.
