Nate’s Pinedorado Car Show honors founder’s lasting legacy
Car fanatics on the Central Coast came together to celebrate the annual Nate’s Pinedorado Car Show. The car show is hosted by the Cambria Lions Club and was founded 18 years ago by Nate Fearonce.
This year looked a little different, as community members also celebrated the lasting legacy of Nate Fearonce, who passed away in May.
Andre Fearonce, Nate Fearonce’s son, came from Arizona to pay tribute to his father and lay him to rest at Moonstone Beach.
“My father was a car show guru and fanatic, became a member of the Lions Club, and he was wondering what he can contribute. So when the kids would come to the Pinedorado, he had a separate little concession booth, which consisted of slot car racing,” Fearonce said.
For many eventgoers, the show was not only a chance to vote for their favorite car but also an opportunity to showcase their own passion projects from different parts of the Central Coast. The most exciting part of the show for participants was the community itself.
“The people! Everybody’s interested in each other’s cars even if it’s not your style; it’s neat to hear the stories behind the cars, why they chose their car,” Anna Clason said, a participant in Nate’s Car Show.
While the Cambria Lions Club attracts an older crowd, the Fearonce family and club members are hoping to encourage young people to get involved. They hope to preserve Nate Fearonce’s tradition for years to come.
“The Lions Club is a beautiful club, but it’s all mostly seniors; you know that generation is doing what we do naturally, moving on. So we really want to encourage the youth to join the Lions Club at some point and do things like have a beautiful community car show,” Fearonce said.
