Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) Events is hosting a concert with Dayglow featuring Couch Dog at the Cal Poly Recreation Center Main Gym on Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m. The doors will open at 6:30 with Couch Dog going on at 7 and Dayglow at 8:30.
Dayglow is an alternative/indie, pop artist who released his first album in 2018 and his most recent album in October of 2022. He is most known for his songs “Can I Call You Tonight?” and “Close to You.” Students should keep an eye out for a meet-and-greet contest with Dayglow by following ASI on Instagram @calpolyasi where they will post more information and updates regarding the concert.
With the height of midterms behind us and finals just around the corner, ASI Events said the event comes at a time when students need something to take their minds off things.
“ASI Events wanted to provide students with a fun opportunity to release some midterm stress and dance around with their friends before fall break,” ASI Events musical entertainment student assistant Katie Pierce said.
Not all students get to unwind for this show, however, because the student members of local band Couch Dog have to prepare for their upcoming concert.
“We’ve been following our usual weekly practice schedule and focusing on perfecting a fun setlist of our favorite songs to perform, mixed with some covers that we think everyone will enjoy,” Couch Dog said.
Despite the potential for added stress, the group was quick to agree to the concert when ASI reached out. The group was unaware of who they would be opening for, but they didn’t want to miss this opportunity to play with a larger artist.
“We were immediately in,” Couch Dog said. “Before the official announcement, we were all trying to guess who the artist would be, and funnily enough one of our first guesses was Dayglow.”
This will be Couch Dog’s first event with ASI, although they have done many performances with other campus organizations and played for various venues in town.
“We’re so grateful for the opportunity to play in front of so many people and to be included in such a huge ASI event,” Couch Dog said. “We’re just super excited to perform in front of a new audience and share our music.”
The event is open to all Cal Poly students and is free entry with a valid PolyCard. Both a PolyCard and government ID are required upon entry, and seats are first come, first served with a maximum capacity of 3,000 people. There is also a strict no bag or outside food or drink policy for this event. A more extensive list of prohibited items can be found on the ASI Events Website.
