Exploring Poly’s Plants

As the school year is coming to a close, many students with meal plans are finding themselves with leftover dining bucks. If this is you, you can use this surplus to buy plants to add to or start your plant family!

Pothos (Epipremnum aureum)  $8

Loved by all plant enthusiasts, this cute, little plant is super easy to take care of and could live in practically any environment. Whether or not your dorm room gets direct sunlight, this plant is sure to thrive!

Baby rubber plant (Peperomia obtusifolia) $8

The texture of this plant’s thick, paddy leaves resemble that of a garden hose! Since the leaves are thick and succulent, you don’t have to stress about watering it. Water it one to two times a week and keep it out of direct sunlight for this plant to flourish!

Silver Sparkle Pilea (Pilea glauca) $8

The pop of the red stems of this tiny-leafed plant would add a little spice to your plant collection. Keep it on a window sill and don’t over-water it, and this Pilea will love you!

Baby Tears (Soleirolia soleirolii) $8

Feeling stressed about finals? A simple glance at this cutesy plant will help to ease your stress. Baby Tears is perfect for your PVC or Cerro kitchen because it needs to live in a slightly humid environment, in the shade!

Black pagoda (Aeschynanthus radicans) $12

This mysterious printed leaf plant produces a brilliant flower the color of a classic red lip. To see these beautiful flowers, this plant needs to be in direct sunlight for a portion of the day. That means, if you live on campus, it can easily live on your dorm room’s window sill!

Aluminum plant (Pilea cadierei) $12

The plant is far too green to be the color of aluminum. The strange veins of its leaves make it look like crinkled up aluminum foil thus, its name. Other than watering it, keep this plant away from heaters and air conditioners to make sure it is living its best life!

Turtle Vine (Callisia repens) $12

Fun to look at, not to eat! If you provide this plant bright, indirect light and moist soil, it will sprout new leaves frequently!
