Deerhunter – Death in Midsummer
Released October 30th, “Death in Midsummer” is the first new track from noise rockers Deerhunter since their 2015 album Fading Frontier.
Typically champions of the noisier rock, this is one of their most thoughtful tracks to date.
Starting from a long, slow build-up, this track explodes into a methodical exploration of their view of deceitful monotony. A cheery tune riddled with smooth background noise and a breakdown into ambient soundscapes about working your life away, this is a great insight for what is to come for Deerhunter.
Their next LP, Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared? is out on January 18th. If this single is any indication for the future of Deerhunter, there is a lot to look forward to.
