Sal Vulcano’s comedy show at PAC sells out in one minute
This is a cross-published piece with Mustang News, more information can be found here.
Student ticket reservations for comedian Sal Vulcano’s Performing Arts Center (PAC) stand-up comedy show sold out in approximately one minute. Sal has been performing for over 25 years, being best known for his creation and lead role in truTV’s popular series, “Impractical Jokers.”
The performance is presented by Associated Student Inc. (ASI) Events and is set to be a full house with about 1,200 seats filled, according to Sean Hogoboom, the PAC ticketing manager.
Students were required to create an account through the PAC website to reserve tickets. This differs from past ASI Event performances, where registration occurred through their website.
Hogoboom said there were students lined up at the in person ticketing office an hour before the sale as well, where roughly 100 of those students were able to receive a ticket.
Sophomore Ava Mesner was waiting online just minutes before the tickets went on sale and was not able to reserve one right at noon, when the reservations opened. Mesner said this hasn’t been the first occurrence with tickets selling out instantly.
“It just makes me upset,” Mesner said. “Where’s my money going if I can’t attend these events? I was ready, and I was very disappointed that this is such a recurring thing at Cal Poly.”
Mesner said she wishes there was a way to sign up in advance, similar to concert presales, in order to ensure those attending want to go and not resell. Tickets to a previous performance by rapper, Boogie Wit a Hoodie, sold out in 11 minutes with the ASI portal crashing due to high volume, according to previous Mustang News coverage.

According to the ASI website, there will be no standby line for this event, but students are able to transfer tickets through the Performing Arts Center website.
Doors for the event open at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 22, and will begin at 7:30 p.m., according to the website.
