Bruce Munro’s ‘Field of Light’ in Paso Robles

People from all around the world are being attracted to a morphing color, 15 acre exhibit here in San Luis Obispo County. 

This exhibit is Bruce Munro: Light at Sensorio in Paso Robles includes the Field of Light.

Since Sensorio’s opening in 2019, half a million guests from 70 different countries have attended the exhibit, according to Sensorio’s press release.

“The lights are Sensorio’s main attraction it’s called the Field of Lights. It’s made by artist Bruce Munro,” Annie Wheler, a sound technician for Sensorio said.

The exhibit recently added 42,000 glowing orbs, creating a field now featuring over 100,000 solar powered stemmed spheres lit by fiber, making it the largest Field of Light in the world.

A Sensorio visitor, Dabe Quinn said pictures online do not do the lights justice.

“We’re headed to the amazing light towers that we’ve heard so much about,” Quinn said.

Quinn was walking along the trails through the Field of Light to the Light Towers exhibit, which was recently added to Sensorio.

“There is a specific sound track of music to go with it that is in harmony with the lights,” said Wheler. 

The custom music is from the soundtrack “Rise and Shine”, composed by Orlanda Gough.

According to Sensorio’s press release, the Light Towers celebrate the wineries and vineyards in Paso Robles.

“It’s ever expanding their are a lot of new projects,” Wheler said. “At the moment we just finished the latest project, which is the barn back there its like a big solid state barn. Their are a lot of like secret projects being worked on the moment which i’m really excited for and the direction its going is really cool.”
