A guide to Valentine’s Day in SLO
Whether you are making plans with your friends or a significant other for Valentine’s Day, it can get stressful deciding what to do and where. This list is a compilation of unique outings in San Luis Obispo to make this holiday special for you and your loved ones.
Events
SLO Public Market
If you are looking for the perfect date spot without spending outrageous amounts of money on a fancy dinner for Valentine’s Day, head to SLO Public Market. With plenty of food vendors, live music by Sami Rouissi and Nexus SLO’s Latin Night, celebrate this holiday of love with delicious food and lively dancing. The events will take place on February 14 from 5-8 p.m.
Night Owl Pottery
Night Owl Pottery is hosting a beginner’s clay workshop at Saints Barrel Wine Bar this Valentine’s Day, hosted by Adriana Lemus. Your clay piece will eventually be turned into a ceramic vase that is glazed and fired by Night Owl Pottery. If you are 21 or older, your ticket fee also grants you a drink and options to purchase wine tastings, sake flights and snacks. This event takes place on February 14 from 7-9 p.m. with a $75 ticket fee.
The Penny
When the downtown scene does not seem like quite the right vibe for your Valentine’s Day night, take the girls to the Penny for a Galentine’s themed dance party. For all of those that are 21 and older, cocktails by Sidecar and desserts by Haute Sugar Co. will be catered for this party. Dancing starts at 7 p.m. on February 18.
The Haunt
For some people, seeking a thrill is more appealing than the “lovey-dovey” holiday of Valentine’s Day. If you are one of these people, The Haunt is the place to go to avoid the romance of this upcoming holiday. This haunted maze has transformed its theme to “Vampyres: Transylmania” to give thrill-seekers a night of fright. This attraction will be open from February 10th to the 18th.
Treats
On Valentine’s Day, many people feel the pressure of buying their loved one a gift. These vendors offer the perfect opportunity to gift someone you love with a heart-shaped treat.
Old West Cinnamon Rolls
If you have ever been to Pismo Beach, chances are you have seen the long line of people waiting outside Old West Cinnamon Rolls. They arguably have the best cinnamon rolls and this Valentine’s Day you can order your cinnamon-roll-loving loved one a heart-shaped cinnamon cake complete with frosting on top.
Surfside Donuts
Give your heart to a loved one this Valentine’s Day metaphorically and physically with Surfside Donuts’ heart-shaped donut box. Although they are closed on Tuesdays, you can order your box online by contacting the company. Each donut is a custom conversation heart to tell your loved one every way that you love them.
Cowboy Cookie
For fans of cookie cakes, Cowboy Cookie and Ice Cream can make your favorite flavored cookie into a heart-shaped cookie cake. Complete this perfect gift with a custom message to tell someone how much you love them or enjoy your Valentine’s Day by saving the cookie for yourself.
