The Jim Hayes Symposium

7–9 P.M. Our panel of media experts will address the question: Is journalism broken? As news stories evolve instantly on social media, tech giants dominate ad revenues and the daily drumbeat of “fake news” erodes public trust, how can we ensure that our values endure? Event takes place on campus in the Advanced Technology Lab (No. 7).

KCPR Presents: Sure, Sure with The Charities, and .paperman

9:30 P.M. Don’t miss this benefit party for KCPR, hang out with fellow KCPR staff members and listeners from every decade. Featuring Los Angeles pop band Sure, Sure; Hermosa Beach soul/funk band The Charities; and SLO local electro-pop artist .paperman . Event takes place at SLO Brew Rock in San Luis Obispo.

Saturday Oct. 13

Hall of Fame and “Through the Decades” Gala

5–9 P.M.  Join us for the weekend’s highlight event as we induct four new honorees into the Journalism Department’s Mustang Media Hall of Fame, followed by a multimedia tour of KCPR history. Event takes place at the Multi Activity Center on campus.

Share Your KCPR Memories

We’re encouraging all station alumni to share their KCPR memories on our digital timeline. For this, we’ve partnered with calpoly.cueback.com, a private online platform created by a recent Cal Poly grad. It’s designed for teasing out and sharing memories.

Calpoly.cueback.com provides personalized prompts and cues to help you recall “lost” memories. You can either preserve memories by yourself or collaborate with friends on shared memories to fill in gaps or add other perspectives.

Take a look and interact with the memories your fellow alumni have already posted. You might even be mentioned in some. It’s a great way to see how KCPR evolved over the years – told through entertaining personal vignettes by people who were there.

Spread the Word

Help spread the word! Bring your fellow Mustangs to the events. Join the Facebook Event Page, where you can let your friends know that you’ll be there in October.

Questions? Don’t hesitate to contact the Journalism Department at (805) 756-2508 or [email protected] for details or check the Facebook Event Page.

We can’t wait to see you!
